XA,XA2, etc.

Looking for one of the XA cameras. Like a fool, passed up one a few months ago at the local camera store for $50 including flash. Just picked up a mint Minolta 140 Zoom EX point and shoot for free but I have a feeling no one is giving away an XA...so where is a good reliable source for a decent XA?:angel:

I've mostly had the XA version... off and on for years. Shunned the XA2 for a long time.

However, I lean more in the last few years to the XA2.

Liking the Zone Focus over the rangefinder
Great images if you don't mind the bit of vignetting often found with the XA2, and I don't. In fact I rather like it.
Last acquisitions... 2 XA2's for $20.

The rangefinder XA got a little tricky (quick lever) and squinty on me.

Zone focus... set and shoot. More keepers 4 me.

I got user XA2 from one of fellow RFFers as a Christmas gift. Changed seals, ran a few rolls through it. I love how it handles crossprocessed film. Now I am looking for flash to compliment it. Great toy.

I have an XA2 and an XA4; previously had the XA but like others here, found the RF focusing to be tricky and ultimately slower than the scale focusing of the XA2/XA4. I love the XA2's vignetting as well - it does handle cross processing beautifully, though we are straying into LCA territory here 😉

The XA4, however, is simply beautiful...a wider 28mm f/3.5 lens with 1-ft macro focusing. Currently, my go-to camera for everyday use.

By the way, who needs LC-A, if there are so many other cameras. If you need light leaks, just take off some light seals, or all of them.

i am yet to come across XA4, and i just saw an XA3 ad in my local forum.. but i bet it'll cost a bomb here.. anyway, i have A16 flash, but find myself using it only twice or thrice ever since i got my XA.. so, do you use the flash often or they stay at home mostly?

I only have the A11 flash and while it's small and fairly light, it's pretty weak and as with small flashes on small cameras, the results can leave much to be desired. I'm sure there's a way to getting good results but I sure haven't found it yet...

Love 'em both...dirt and cheap!😀 Found one and is on the way... just in time for hot weather, shorts, t-shirt and a stealth camera to fit in my pocket!

Now, to decide which film to use. Slides? Black and White? I may just use slide film in the Minolta to build up a slide show collection for projecting on the backyard patio this summer! So, that leaves B&W for the XA2.🙂 Anyone tried slide film in an XA?
