XE-1 + 27/2.8 . . What do you think?

The only way you can get a 3 diopter is with the X-Pro 1.

Absolutely, without resorting to silicon cement.

My wife recently picked up an XE1/27 to use as a bit of a "point and shoot" and she loves it. Actually, I really like it a lot myself and have considered picking up a 27 to pair up with my XPro1.

I think the IQ of the 27 is really nice, the XE1 is still a very capable body, especially considering Fuji releases firmware updates periodically and considering they have yet to abandon the now two year old XP1, I'm guessing the XE1 will continue to get updates as they are available.

As a "point and shoot" for taking on bike rides, etc. I think you can't go wrong with the XE1/27 combo. Small, light, fast and you get a decent EVF. All wrapped around that awesome Fuji sensor. I don't see where you could go wrong.

Glad to help! For what it's worth, my wife takes hers on her bike with her when we go to the farmer's market and what not. Doesn't add a whole lot of weight or bulk to her bag so it's easy for her to take.

I'd love to try one of those trikes sometime. I ride a 2012 Masi Uno right now, but there's a guy in my town that rides a recumbent all over the place and I always think it looks like so much fun.

I always wonder, when I learn of someone gnashing their teeth and in a quandary over what piece of equipment to buy to make things perfect, what their final decision was. So, for those of you on the edge of your seat waiting to know what I did, here it is.

I ordered an X-Pro1 (very sorry I didn't keep the first one) a +3 diopter (appropriate for me and not possible with some of the other X series) and a 35/1.4 lens (one of my all time favorites).

No more drama. Good little rig. Photos produced no better or worse than before, but much less tension.

I still have my D610.

The 35mm is a lens I could not part with. I actually hope Fuji gives it an update at photokina without putting a Mkii model on that silly roadmap for a year and a half ahead of release.
The new focus motors are quite a bit nicer than the originals. But... it's the glass that counts right?

I'm looking to add a second X-trans body as well and, likely will struggle a bit over getting anything else over another xpro1.
The sub $300 XE1 bodies out there second hand are sure tempting though.
I just picked up a 18-55 and could see the XE1 being just fine for the Zoom lens.
The zooming frame-lines on the Xpro1 are a trip. They are actually a bit distracting and funky in use so... the evf will be the way to go.
I could see an XE1 or XE2 body with grip just simply to use zooms.

I figure I'll just use the X-Pro1's OVF most of the time. If I want a zoom I'll switch to the D610. Best of both worlds, at least for awhile.

Great lens. Sharp and relatively undistorted.

Focus is very fast - not quite the 18-55mm in bright daylight, but it's a lot better than the 35mm.

The 39mm filter size is a little bit of a pain, but I can see why they did it (to save weight on the AF mechanism).

The lack of an aperture ring is not a deal-killer, but it is very easy to knock the lens off its setting (pr Program) with that easy-to-turn rear wheel on the X-Pro.

Dante, see above, I'm actually getting the 35/1.4. This is quite a departure from my original intent but it saves me wanting to upgrade later. Just getting it over to begin with. Thanks for your input.

I have bought this lens in combo with Fujifilm X-E1. Is a very compact lens, however at the expense of the physical aperture ring and faster f/ stop. On the other hand, is a very sharp and contrasted lens. I think it's an excellent performer.
