xe3...will it happen?

Touch screen and no D pad. Not sure how I feel about that. My XE2 is looking better all the time.

With stalled or declining ILC sales worldwide, camera manufactures are cutting costs, so two types of input (screen and d-pad) will be the norm in the entry-level part of the industry.

Mosre and more consumers are used touchscreen only, s as a transition model between smartphones and ILCs, this is what will continue to occur. Those who prefer tactile controls and haptic feedback will need to purchase up the price ladder.

I've come to changing my mind on touchscreen on cameras.

If properly implemented, ..Touchscreen is great for playback/review. One can zoom in quickly and navigate easily.
For LCD shooting the Touchscreen could also be a nice option. Imagine being able to zoom in to choose the exact desired focus point when doing a macro session.
It could become a very useful tool.

It's good to hear that Fuji is keeping the joystick for the XE3.
The omission of the focus joystick on the XT20 was a misstep (although I have not tested it... would still prefer a focus joystick).
Touchscreen for eye level functions is a no go. Mechanical controls are the only way there.

for what I do I am more than happy with X-E1 (bought it at significant discount when X-E2 was released) and it will last me another 5 years. I don's care much for AF improvements or extra buttons (or the lack of thereof) or IQ improvements that one can see only by pixelpeeping... I would have loved though to have FF sensor... I don't like how "face-lifting" is used to justify another price jump... but on the other hand I like that old models then sell for a reasonable price 🙂

Ditto that. Thats how I got my first XE 1 and Xpro 1

no shutter/iso dial? i guess they listened to complaints about the x-pro2.

i won't miss the d-pad. you can just use the joystick and touch screen.

check out the great design! the lines are almost as clean as a leica. it's a great example of how control layouts can be structured.

I can't see myself getting one. I've never been a fan of this model due to the other Fuji models being better for my needs. I hope those that love the X-E series are satisfied though... you waited awhile!

This is a lot different from the other X-E models, ergo and size-wise. Will be interesting to see how well it is received...

Well, it looks like I won't be reserving a X-E3 anymore, went to The Camera Store and picked up a A7RII with 24-70 f4 lens at a really good price.

The rumored X-E3 specs is a little disappointing and I was hoping for a nicer/bigger VF.

went out with the xt20 today...getting excited hoping the new xe3 will be about the size of the xt20 just w/o that middle hump. with fewer buttons on the back i think it could be a very comfy camera to use.

I tend to cycle between Leica, Fuji and Sony all the time.
What I found disappointing about the X-E3 announcement was 2 features I was hoping to see, bigger EVF and ISO dial.
I've come to the realization that the X-T2 was the almost perfect camera with all those features including tilt-screen other than having a SLR style.
Also, after owning the X-T2 for almost a year I knew already what I could do with the X-Trans III sensor and wanted a change.

I wouldn't be surprised though if the next couple of years I will end up with Fuji again, the XF 18mm and XF 50mm have been one of the best lenses I've used
