Great photos. Xi'an is still considered to be the real cultural capital of China, especially by the people who are fascinated by Tang Dynasty culture. Indeed a place to visit.

I wish I'd been able to stay longer, what an amazing city.

My wife and I absolutely love Xi'an as well, probably our favorite city we've visited so far. The only reason we ended up there was because I wanted to go to Huashan and its closest. I am super glad we did. I'd pepper your thread with images, but its your thread and I don't wanna mess up your flow.
Great series.
Great series.
Very nice photos, Maggie! And very interesting to see the same place in colour.
Its always interesting to see how other photographers photograph the same things/places so please pepper away!
We were supposed to visit Huashan during my last trip, but our day trip was canceled at the last minute. Hopefully next time.

Thank you! I only had the afternoon there, wish I'd had more time to explore.
Of course, there's a certain attraction there, too:

The sign on this shop shown in this photo (file #6793342) says "High Quality Pork"
So, Jonmanjiro, did you take that photo in the Muslim quarter? If so, then there must be something wrong here---false advertisement?!
Tin
Tin, that photo was taken at the local market just near Heping Gate in the south east corner of the city wall, where there is nary a tourist in sight.

I need to go back there. These photos make me nostalgic for my last trip there in 2008. But I think I'll wait for better weather. Too hot for me

This thread is extremely hard to view or comment on - it just keeps loading new photos as I scroll down!
Happily, the volume of photos are quite good. I've been in China a lot and these all 'feel' very familar...in fact, they all look how being there feels, if that makes any sense.
So interesting to see these. My compliments on capturing so many moments.

Great travelogue! It looks like a China of 50 years ago, very traditional.
Thanks for posting.

I am really excited about this thread, I went home and looked at my negatives (and positives) from Xi'an, and it gave me the reason to rescan and look at them. I am quite happy with them, I'm actually surprised I didn't scan them before. Thanks
