Well I managed to buy an Xpan last night here in NZ. Am off to Moorea (Tahiti) tomorrow morning and can't wait to shoot crystal clear landscape shots on the Island. My question is the Xpan I purchased doesn't have the center filetr so should I shoot Velvia anyway or should I purchase some negative film for the trip. Any examples of shots on transparency without center filter would be great. Am stoked to finally get an Xpan but don't want to come home from trip and be disappointed with results. Will be taking M9 as well.

These three photos were taken with 45mm, no center filter on Ektachrome 100. You can see a little vignetting but not serious.
As you just got the Xpan I would suggest lots of film and use the auto bracket for this trip until you get used to the meter.

Many panoramic shooters intentionally leave out the centre filter - in many ways, the vignetting makes the distorted perspective at the edges more palatable.
