Xpan framelines question

Hello. Can someone give me an idea of the 45mmm and 90mm framelines on the Xpan?

How much space is there around the 45mm lines for seeing compositional elements just outside the frame?

Are the 90mm very small and difficult to use like on the Minolta CLE for example, or are they okay?

A figure of the viewfinder with lines would be ideal for me to see - I cold not find such a figure in the instruction manua.

It depends on what format you have it in. I only have the 45mm lens, however in non-panoramic format, the lines take up less than half of the viewfinder, leaving you with half a frame on either side of the framelines. In panoramic mode, vertically, I'd say the framelines take up a little more than 3/4 of the viewfinder, whereas horizontally, there is about half as much extra on either side.

I find the framelines excellent and very easy to see, no matter the lighting conditions.

Plenty of space, similar to 50mm framelines on 0.72x Leica for 45mm and 90mm framelines on 0.85x/0.91x Leica for 90mm. The Xpan leaflet says the viewfinder magnification is 0.45x with 30 mm and 45 mm lenses, 0.66x with 90 mm lens.

I sold 90mm lens as I finally realised I'm not 90mm shooter. The pano mode with 90mm is nothing special and for 2:3 ratio the 90mm the framelines are a bit small and f/4 slow. But I'm sure somebody can make a good use of it.

Thank you both. I'm hoping to get an Xpan in the coming months, and was worried in particular about the usability of the 90mm lines.

It sounds like a little lens swings into place (or something like that) when the 90mm lens is used to increase the finder magnification?
That's a neat trick.

The space around the 45mm lines also seems about right for my taste - I like to see what's out there.

Exactly, not only framelines are switched, also the magnification is changed.
