to scan film i would look an eye on new epson v750.
we-me and julio fernandez( a chemist of canada) will work together offering different panorama-masks for his scanmax-wet-mount holder.
look at his wetmounting-yahoo-list:

v700 has already been tested. almost of the same if not better quality like nikon coolscan 4000.
i expect enlargements of 15-20x in top-quality with v750 and wetmounting with your sharpest film.....
4990 can do 12x without holder and wetmounting already.

I also suggest you cancel your Adorama order. They will email you order cancellation proof. They will sell you one lens when they get it which will be never. That is their business model and you can not change it.
Email all the big suppliers and buy from the one who is stocking now. Discontinued items rarely ever come in. I found this to be so last year while looking for Contax G accessories.
