The landscape at Yellowstone is an alien environment; sulfur fumes in the air near geysers kill most plant life; colors in the ground come from bacteria that thrive in near boiling water temperatures.
If you have a chance to visit the US and can see only one place, this is the spot!

lovely pictures. I agree about Yellowstone. It was the highlight of my trip around the US many years ago. A wonderful place.
