what a very comfortable camera to use.
af is fine for my needs...
pics can be sharp (if i hold the camera steady)...
love the feel of the lenses...the aperture is so silky smooth...

went out today for a brief time...windy and cold outside so my nature walk was cut short...spent some time in the market but nothing to good to show for it...which if to be expected as i learn the camera...

looking forward to more shooting time and better results.

Looks like you are off to a good start with it- love the empty bench...makes me shiver 🙂

Embarrassed to tell you but it was mid 70s on the beach in California today...makes us soft, I think 🙂

The Panoramic setting will surprise you-- easiest one I have used.

It's a great camera, lots of buttons for an old dog like me, am thinking of the zooms to come also, it is supposed to zoom the frames I am told.

Really like that the live view switches off when you bring the camera up.

Made some decent shots in very low light.

Have not used it enough yet, but added an adapter to use the Cosina 12 mm.

Regards, John

Looks good Joe, interested to see how you get along with it. I have one on loan from fuji Australia for the week (and the 3 lenses) and I'm REALLY enjoying it. It's so unexpectedly lightweight, and the 35mm lens is killer. Mine has a bit of wear on it too, and the body looks rather nice once it's been roughed up a little. It's a dull silver metal under that black paint, and the paint seems pretty durable.

The 18mm lens is a little sweetheart too - very well rounded, fast, and tiny!

U two got on board about the right time

Joe and soon Gavinlg😀

This is really the right time. W/ the latest 2.0 fw update, this is almost a different camera in terms of responsiveness.

Joe I like the last pic the best.

Have fun
Gary

It is a great system. So much so that I sold my M9. At first I was reluctant to believe the Fuji hype, but now that I have everything sorted out (FW upgrades and the proper diopter) I am sold. The X-pro advantages simply out weight the few the M9 offers (slightly better IQ at lower ISO, and full frame.)

But I still have an M3 and MP so I won't be tempted to sell my M Lenses.... 🙂

thanks guys!

i am tempted to sell one of the rd1 bodies and a few lenses...i have no intention of using m mount lenses on the fuji...i look forward to the 56mm lens for something a bit longer.
i will keep the m4-p/rd1 as i love my rangefinders but i doubt that i will use them much any longer...i think this is it for me.

Thanks for the update.

With the new firmware the camera is exactly what I need. The one stop loss of DOF compared to 24x36 mm sensors doesn't mean much to me. The images that come from the sensor meet my needs and are comparable to what I see from the D700.

I agree with your decision to stick with the Fujinon lenses.

No need to sell the M lenses - get a fuji M adapter and use them on the xp1

Joe-

I've tried the adapter and I works great...BUT my days of mainly MF are over...I really need auto focus in many situations.

S0... If you want more choice in lenses, check this out:

Zeiss will fill up your bag with lots of cool lenses - I will probably try the 28mm when it comes out, but to tell the truth, it's hard to see how the will really be any better than the fuji ones - I'm really impressed with them.

wow...zeiss auto focus lenses...i bet they will be very nice...and i agree, the fuji lenses are excellent and certainly will meet my needs.

i was looking for an rd1 replacement because of wanting/needing af now...so using my manual lenses makes little sense...the 40 sonnar will be the hardest to leave behind and that's the main reason that i will hold on to one of the rd1 bodies for awhile...

Any photos of the roughed up body? I'm quite curious to see how it ages!

Not my photos, taken from another forum where a guy sped up the ageing process, lol. Reminds me of when I went to buy my first Leica. Went to a shop in the city and a few weeks prior a guy had bought a black MP brand new. He returned it a few weeks later after taking sandpaper to it then deciding he didnt like the look of it and sold it back to the shop...

My eyes are pretty bad. Before u start selling off those rf lenses u should try an m adapter. The ability to go 3 or 10x mag at push of button, makes keeping those legacy rf lenses something to think about, plus u still can do zone w/ an adapter that properly focus at inf.

I never posted any images but others have. I bought a cheap third party while I waited for the official Fuji m adapter. Now I have both. I cannot remember if it is a rainbow or someone else.

I got lucky and the third party focused properly at inf. I have had third party adapters that did not and some that did even from the same vendor. It is a bit of hit and miss. From my experience adapting legacy lenses on the Nex I learned how to shim them to get infinity focus. I have heard that the Raquel's (cannot remember spelling) from the head bartender focus properly at inf. The biggest reason to get the Fuji is if your lenses need correction.

If u never intend to zone focus it does not matter about inf focus.

Below is list of threads w/ pictures from adapted lenses:
