XT1 vs XPro2 processing speed

I've posted a want to buy add in the classified for an XT1 to replace an xe1 body.
I can't wait for fuji to release the xe3 even though that would be my preference overall.
Really hoping an XT1 will fit the bill for a while.

Unlike many fuji users I don't have a complaint about focus speed with most fuji lenses even my trusty f1.4/35mm (occasionally acuracy but not speed).

My complaint is write speed and the entire transaction that occurs after pressing the shutter button.


For those of you who now use the XPro2 and have previously used the XT1, could you please comment on any real world differences in processing speed?
I like to save a small jpeg and RAW when actually working events.
The XT2 should likely behave similarly to the xpro2.

My last couple heavy volume events I have gone back to the 5D as it never ever bogs down on writing to card. (Even with an sd card adapter to use a flashair card in the camera).
The 5Diesel (ii) is overkill and a real lunker even for a brute like me. Especially if I need a zoom 😱

I think the XT2 should be faster than the Xpro2

I have Xpro2 and two XT1. I never really noticed any hang up with write speed with the XT1. I shoot RAW only, not RAW + jpg and also, I never shoot in continuous mode, just one shot at a time. My cards are fairly fast but not the fastest.

I've had both cameras and I don't think there's much difference in performance speed. I'm sure online reviewers will find some micro-seconds difference, but not enough to think about, IMHO. For me, the big benefit of owning the X-T1 is that huge glorious viewfinder. If you're an X-E fan (i.e.: EVF only), you're going to LOVE the X-T1!

My Fuji ILC progression has gone xe1, xt1, xe2. Coming from an xe1 I found the xt1 ergos sufficiently poor to render the camera a drawer queen for 2 years while an x100t served as my primary camera. I finally sold it and picked up an xe2 once fw4 had a solid date. Totally loving it and the last of 3 X100's finally got sold.

I'm sure you've thought through your needs but, if you're waiting for an xe3, the xe2 is an xe1 on steroids. Lacks the marvelous evf, in lieu of a slightly crisper one (less magnification), buffer is smaller, otherwise, I can't see any operational differences between it and an xt1.

The CPUs for newer X-Series cameras are more powerful and faster than older models.

The newer bodies (starting with the XT-1 I think) can use very fast, UHS-II SDHC cards. This link shows some test data.

Assuming your high-speed SDHC cards are always formatted in-camera, the write times should be fast.

There may be Menu parameters (especially those intended to maximize battery life) that slows things down.

I don't think it's irresponsible to speculate JPEGs slow things down because the limiting factor is the time it takes to render the JPEgs from the in-camera raw. This is where the more powerful CPU(s) help.

Offered as info in the event it matters to the OP. I don't know the size difference but, yes, my XT1 could rattle off a lot more images than my XE2 before the buffer filled.

At times ... Yes.
It's the jpegs that create the problem I'm sure of it. Now they are integral to how Output and so,... I don't wish to give them up.

When I use the cameras for personal use I never have issues.

Sounds like the XT1 will fit the need for now. I like the high mag vf.
Wish it had an on board flash.... I've become accustomed to how handy that wimpy tiltable flash on the xe1 is..... Reallly useful for fill.
The High vf mag still wins.

Can't help with the XT1 but I had an XP1 (very much like the XE1 for processing) and moved to the XP2. Night and day difference between the two for fast shooting. The XP1 could bog down pretty easily. XP1 will get in the way and make you wait. XP2 feels as fast or maybe even faster than my D700 was. I don't think I have ever had the XP2 make me wait except for when shooting Film Simulation brackets. And that is including shooting sports at 8fps.
