I've recently been given a 124g with stuck shutters... I took the front plate off the camera, removed the lenses and cleaned the shutter blades and aperture blades. I also used the chance to clean the mirror and focus screens. The shutter now works, but when I remounted the front plate onto the body, the focus is now totally out at both close and infinite... Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Cheers

did you move the mirror at all when cleaning it? I had one that the mirror had moved slightly which affected how the image looks on the ground glass.

good luck!

Yes, I took the mirror out to clean...

Aha, problem solved 😀

I had another look this morning, and noticed the bottom of the mirror wasn't properly mounted in it's bracket. I slipped the mirror out, correctly seated the mount, stuck the mirror back in, stuck the top back on, and focus now matches the disctance scale. 😀

Cheers for that.

Note to self. Drink wine while taking pictures not stripping cameras 😉

Just need to replace the seals, and I'm ready for some hot TLR loving fun 😛

Cheers

Operation complete... after a long session of cleaning the shutter blades with lighter fluid, the shutter now is nice and snappy, sounds good at all speeds. Also cleaned a lot of oil of the aperture blades. With a freshly cleaned mirror, fresnel, and ground glass, the viewfinder is nice and bright 😀
I've also given the body a spring clean, and just need a new set of leathers to finish it off. Since I'm impatient, I've loaded a role of FP4. We'll soon see if the seals need replacing or not!
