Yashica CC at the Big Otter Mill

I decided to visit the Big Otter Mill again since the first my time there was for testing out a camera that didn't go so well. Still had a little issue with this camera, as all the shots were a tad bit off, but then the battery may be weak as it's been in the camera for quite a while. But it was nothing that couldn't be fixed in post.

The images are sharp and color looks good.

I've got my eye on a Yashica CC. I've had quite a few fixed lens rangefinders, and I'm finding 40-45 mm to be too wide for my general use. I prefer 35 mm.

Yashica CCs are availabe via Japanese ebay sellers for around $100 in good shape. Olympus XAs are available for about $140 and a loads more compact. (but with a 1.5 stop slower lens) Maybe a bit less reliable, too...

The thing is that I've already got a Rollei 35, Rollei B 35, Yashica GS and an OM1N. I'm hesitant to add another camera.

For about the same money as the Yashica CC, I can just get a nice 35/2.8 lens for my OM1N and not have another camera to maintain.

What do you think?

Smaug - I prefer my Rollei 35S to this camera. I had a Yashica CC briefly. The lens was spectacular, much better than the compact Zuiko on Olympus XA . However, with that said, the build quality seemed to be on the cheap side, especially the rewind crank. I sold the camera for that reason.

I know what you mean about the cheap rewind crank. I think it's a trait of the entire Yashica line-up. My GS has it.

Nevertheless, I just bought that one I was watching from Japan because of the lens.

Need to order a strap as battery adapter now.

I believe the Yashica is the fastest of all the 35mm fixed lens rangefinders, but you can't beat that Rollei 35S for IQ. That said, I was going to agree with you on your choice of getting a lens for your Olympus, as maybe you don't want to get too many cameras. But since you decided to go with the CC, you don't need a battery adapter. Just get either a 6v 28A, or 4LR44. No adapter needed like in it bigger siblings.

I have some point-and-shoot models that have good 35mm lenses of various speeds, and can be found in junk shops for little money. Here is a test I did on four of them.

I also ordered a nice leather strap, a battery, an orange filter and a 10-pack of Tri-X. Maybe a Never-ready case is next...

Never ready is correct. I only use them for long term storage. Sounds like you are all set with the CC. I feel it does much better with B&W film. Acros 100 was my favorite.
