Yashica CC lens play?

Hello everyone, this is my first post in this forum!

I've been lurking for some time and finally decided to be a part of it =)

I've recently bought a Yashica CC from ebay, the light meter works (I haven't tested it for accuracy yet, but the leds and battery check light are responsive), the controls are smooth and everything looks like new apart from the light seals and the lens barrel that has some play.

What bothers me a bit is the play in the lens barrel.. It doesn't feel "loose" but when focusing I can shift it a bit (I can rock the front ring - the glass moves too - about a mm perhaps in every direction). The aperture ring has a little play too, although it seems to be independent to the play in the rest of the lens barrel.

Is this common? Is it something that I'd be able to try and fix by myself? I don't consider myself particularly clumsy with small mechanical parts (I used to race RC cars, and did the mechanic by myself), but I don't have experience regarding cameras apart from the cleaning and simple stuff.

I live in Portugal, so I can't really send it to repair in the US, it'd probably cost more then picking another one at ebay. Note that I haven't put a roll in it yet, although I'll probably do it in the next 2 or 3 days if I have the time to go out and shoot.

I really look forward to using this little camera, let me know what to do =)

I have the CC and the lens rocks a teeny bit. I also have a Konica Auto S3 and that does it a little more than the CC. It annoyed my a wee little bit when I first got each camera, now I don't even think about it. Both cameras work fine and both are excellent picture takers.

Of course, your mileage may vary. Shoot a test roll and if the pics are sharp, I would leave it alone, personally.

I have two Yashi Lynx 5000's and both lens barrels are loosey goosey, an MG-1 with the same...they all take nice pics...my two GS's both an N and a T are tight as a drum on the other hand....different level of quality maybe?

My CC does not have any lens free play. Before you buy another one, use what you have, you may be surprised by how well it does. Once you see how nice a camera it is, you may even want to send it over here to Mark Hama and invest in a good CLA that will fix that lens play. It's not a heavy camera, and global priority mail is reasonable.

Thank you all for the answers.

I'm bringing it with me this afternoon, I have a lot to do, but I'm going to have to walk a bit around Lisbon, so I'm hoping to be able to shoot a few pics (almost) while mooving =) If the photos turn out in focus I'll leave it at that.

I really love it's smallish size, it fits in my messenger bag nicely.

One more thing. I bought it without any case or lens hood, any recomendations regarding this items?
