I have a very nice condition Yashica Electro 35 CC that I just can't seem to get the top plate off so I can clean the rangefinder / viewfinder.

I have removed all three screws, the battery compartment cap, the rewind knob, and the wind lever. It feels loose in the back where the film door is, but towards the front it is stuck. It feels like maybe some of the glue for the leatherette "overflowed" a little and stuck to the inside of the top plate? Or maybe I'm just forgetting something else I have to remove?

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get the top plate unstuck / off on my CC ?

Thanks!

Shouldn't be anything more. There's a little pin that most likely will pop out/disappear from the flash synch when you take the cover off.

It is as you suspect, the glue from the leatherette. You can loosen it up with paint thinner, or simply put the camera somewhere warm, the glue will soften enough to pull off the cover. Be careful not to lose the red battery check button, and be careful not to break the switch when putting the cover back on.

Good riddance, if you ask me - without that pin, the camera can do fill flash better than any FP shutter camera! With it, it will fire at fixed 1/30s (not exploiting the shutter's capabilities, which would permit 1/250s sync) whenever a sync cord is attached...

when you put it back together, make sure you really screw that film rewind knob on tight! It has a way of loosening up on its own otherwise.
