so, we're redoing our house to sell it and my dad brings me a camera case from the attic. he said if i want it i can keep it, and if not i can throw it away. inside i found a canon a1 with a few assorted lenses, and a yashica electro 35 gsn.
i spent a few days researching both before i decided i should buy batteries and film for them to see if they work or not, and tonight while opening the yashica battery compartment i caught a snag. it seemed to still have one of the original mercury batteries, and it was covered in blue along with the cap. i put the cap down on my dresser and the silver ring popped right off, you can see pictures below

then that part popped off too, this is it upside down next to the original cap and the silver ring

i tried to get a picture of the inside but nothing looked wrong anyway

:bang:
i'm assuming the cap is like, broken beyond repair.. so my question is, is there a way to makeshift it to work, or should i just buy a new yashica for the cap? since i doubt they sell the cap on it's own. after reading about it and looking at sample pictures i'm really interested in owning one now
