Yashica Electro 35 GSN - In production again?

I think they refurbish them & sell them for ridiculous prices but they are not being mfg. again. Why would a company remake this camera & use the almost impossible to find PX32a 6v. battery?
 
No they are re-conditioned used cameras.
A few years ago when i was laid up and home bound I actually re-conditioned and sold Electros to Lomo to start this offering.
We Did about 100 cameras before popularity made it too difficult to find clean units at a reasonable price to continue onward.
They must have a new source re-conditioning bodies for them.
Don't ask me about price. I will say the cameras we sold were completely cleaned, New POD, seals, battery adapter, fresh case, and new Yashica CS-15 Flash. No scratched or damaged cameras were sold.
It was a nice set. I expect these to be the same.

Could be some "old, new stock" someone came across, but most likely just refurbed models. Doesn't say how many they have. It would be hard to come up with the tooling now days to make some of these.

Well...

Folks often have such not kind words about Lomography, especially their pricing...but I hope they make a nice, happy profit...and thereby continue to grow the cool factor of retro photography among the college crowd, et al.

There are plenty of YouTube vids on this Holga and Lomo stuff...and it's interesting to see viewers post frantic questions about "where do you put the batteries?" (for a camera with neither meter nor flash)...or "does anybody know where I can buy film?"

I have an original mint one of these, handed down from an aunt... was thinking about trying to get it going again (batteries...). Didn't think they were worth more than $20 on eBay.

GSN/GTNs fetch substantially more than that these days. Got a slightly flawed one for $50. Good ones are starting to edge beyond $100.

I'm sorry I sound mean but the Lomo LC-A that they sell at $280.00 is a rip off for a hunk of plastic. I'd much rather spend $35.00 & buy a Holga 35. At least when the plastic shutter breaks I wont feel like an idiot for spending 300 bucks.
 
I own a number of these and have bought/sold a few. My perception is $10-20 for a GSN/GTN described as "looks good, untested."

But for one that is "in perfect working order, recently overhauled by Mark Hama" it might be $120-150. So, I think $250 is asking a lot.

BTW, a really perfect GSN would have the little clear plastic hot shoe cover.
