Yashica Electro 35 GT?

Yesterday while checking out the local thrift store, I came across black Yashica Electro 35 GT. I have seen these cameras around from time to time, but never picked one up as the examples I usually see are in rather poor shape. This one, however, is like new, in the original box. It includes the original ever-ready case, strap, rubber lens hood and cap, instructions, and a matching Yashica monopod. It's a little dusty from long storage, but otherwise looks unused.

From what I can tell, the Electro 35 is not a particularly valuable camera, but it seems there are quite a few Yashica enthusiasts out there who like them. I'm tempted to pick up this camera and either use it, or perhaps sell it to a collector or Yashica enthusiast.

Can anyone give me a reason why I should pick up this camera? How much is an Electro 35 kit such as this worth?
 
reason #1 - you are in need of autoexposure FL RF with bright lens. Here you are.
reason #2 - you are Yashica fellow, dreaming to own Electro kit.
reason #3 - you wanted black bodied rangefinder camera for some reason.
reason #4 - you can buy it, check it, and fix it, then resell whole kit to Yashica user or collector

p.s. that "monopod" in fact is also small tripod, unscrew it to get out legs.

Worth? That depends how badly one wants it. Sure, if you check/fix it and sell as fully working, then there are chances to get good money for it - mostly because it's black and whole kit.
 
You'll need to do an easy modification to allow it to accept the PX28 6-volt battery, as the original 5.6-volt battery is no longer made.

These are good cameras. Not top of the line, but very capable.
 
Just no note, all those belongings - hood, table tripod and what else - also cost money. Considering summed shipping costs, many would be happy to get it as batch.

Btw that tripod is very nice, I have one, bought separately.
 
Does it work? Many, probably most Electros will need the POD (pad of death) replaced before they will function. I have messed with 3-4 of these cameras and have a working GS, GT, and 35CC. All of them required some service, the GS and GT I replaced the POD myself. It all depends on if you will shoot the camera or sell it. If you like it, and want to use it, they are cool cameras. If you aren't in love with it, find another way to spend your time.

For the money, it's hard to find another camera for $35-$75 that will give you a low light capable leaf shutter with auto-exposure. However, there are limitations. The ISO on my GT only goes to 500, maybe there are others that go higher, but you can't shoot at higher ISO's.

On the bright side, the rangefinder on my sample is bright and clear. A pretty nice camera that I wish that I used more often.
