Got me Yashica Electro 35 G. Loving it!

The funny thing though: only 1/500 speed works. But it's OK to shoot outside. Light meter still works so when overexposure red is on I can adjust the lens closing and shoot at 1/500 as soon as the red light goes off.

Used mostly UC 100
Sorry if I'm about to insult you're intelligence...I just saw this same problem on a flickr discussion and it turned out to be the battery. I'm no expert mind you, just won an Electro on ebay and waiting for it to come.

Well... the battery powers the light meter...

which works pretty good. I used 6V (instead of 5.6V) but here it says it should be OK:

When I press the button with red (overexposure) light on, the shutter just stays open (like in "B" mode) until I turn the camera to the source of light or release the button or just tap on the lens. Looks like the shutter opens and gets stuck or something..

Hi all!
Just got mine not too long a go.
It was shooting only at 1/500 and it turned out to be the battery!
I did the longer sprint trick with a 6V battery - works great!!!
I love this camera!
