yashica electro gsn rangefinder problem

Hi all, just acquired a new(looks new) yashica electro gsn. I've changed the light seals, put in a battery, shot a roll of slide film, and the meter is amazingly accurate. None of the slides were over or under exposed, at least to my eye. One problem though, which I have yet to find an answer, and that is the horizontal adjustment of the rangefinder is off. I've removed the small plate on the hot shoe and attempted adjustments at infinity, but the two images will not coincide. Can someone enlighten me on what must be done. I've never had the top off, but for what I paid for it, I'm willing to try it. The images on the slides were exposed well, but I could tell the actual focus plane was further away. One shot of small flower in a flower bed came out not in focus at all, but the pine straw mulch was in perfect focus. This is about a 9 inch difference. Thanks for any help.

I'd never mess with those adjustment screws. . . . you're meant to be able to do that, but I've never had anything but bad luck with it.

9 inch difference at what distance from the lens?

Sorry it took so long guys. Here is Winfrieds tip for me to get the rangefinder aligned. It was obvious the lever was bent.

in case the range of the adjustment screw is not sufficient, you should remove the top cover and rebend a lever which rides on the rear edge of the lens barrel. This lever is a bit hard to access. Maybe it's easier if you remove the entire rangefinder/viewfinder assembly which is held to the main body by three or four screws.

Konica Auto-S2 can be purchased dirt cheap when they have frozen shutters. Also, in many cases a dead meter is caused by rotten contacts in the battery test switch - but I have also run across one with a broken galvanometer coil.

i have the same problem with my hi-matic 9. lens is set for infinity and checked for 3ft. rangefinder is on at 3ft, but seems the farther away the focus is, the more off it is, and at infinity it is off a lot, about 1-1/2 the width of the yellow frame line. the screw's adustment range is not enough to cover this much. the adjustment required seems to be that, at infinity, the rangefinder lever needs to be pushed not as far back into the camera body as it is now, and at the same time maintaining the set point for 3ft. (seems to be a non-linear relationship).

on my hi-matic 9, the rangefinder lever looks like this, (the arrow), and is pushed by this part of the brass block on the helicoid, (the circle). i don't know what to do now. would appreciate any advice/help, tks!
