Hi,

I've just done a POD and shutter cleaning on a Yashica Electro 35 Professional. Camera thumps nicely now, but the shutter has started to lag or miss. The lag is fairly long sometimes. Meter appears to work, red/yellow lights come on.

It wasn't doing this at all before the POD. Is this a symptom of a bad POD job? Or is this from too much lighter fluid? Is the too much lighter fluid problem cureable?

I saw that someone else encountered similar lag/miss problems but it sounded like they never resolved the issue.

Update: I just did a POD on a 2nd electro, had the same problem (lag/miss). I think this is probably related to the new pad being slightly too thick. There's a related thread on flickr about this. Here's how I solved it, on one of the electros (haven't tested other one yet):

1. Remove bottom cover
2. On the left side, there are 2 brass adjustment screws, one larger and one smaller. The smaller one is to the left of the larger one and further in. Turn this counterclockwise. I believe this adjusts the shutter button stroke somehow and compensates for a slightly thicker pad.

**Update** This has solved the above problem on both cameras. Note, if you turn the rod too far in the opposite direction, it can also cause problems.

farlymac:No the adjustment screw just screws continuously as far as I know. monopix: Thanks, I recently discovered the screw stuff in the manual... I think I was initially reading a different POD guide which didn't mention the rods, hence my confusion.

One problem still unsolved (as mentioned in my other Yashica Electro thread): one of my cameras opens during wind-on, then opens slightly more during firing, then closes after a third cycle. Any ideas?

Anybody? I'm sure someone has seen this opening-during-wind problem before. Cleaning the blades apparently isn't helping (because it isn't the blades that are sticking; in fact, they're opening too early, so it must be something else that's gummy).
