I got another box full of junk cameras this week, and though most of the cameras were in fact junk, I came across a few gems. I managed to find a couple working GX cameras, and one Yashica Electro Professional.

The Professional was pretty cruddy, and the front of the lens housing was a bit loose, but with a little cleaning and screw-tightening it seems to be working fine. The lens was clean and without any fungus, and the rangefinder cleaned up well. The shutter works smoothly, and all of the lamps function.

Does anyone else have one of these cameras? What do you think of them?

Don't have, just have read it doesn't have gold plated contacts thus more prone to electric issues. Nice yours is fine.

If the electrical guts are shot, b1bmsgt Russ can retrofit it with newer parts, as he's done with other G's.

I'm happy with the Pro so far, it seems to work perfectly. I ran a roll of film through it yesterday, I'll develop and scan it on the weekend. Incidentally, I won a second Electro Professional from an auction for 1 cent. If nothing else the parts may come in handy.

Early Professional

Early Professional

I have (amongst others) a couple of the early "professional" Electro`s. Which were not marked with anything except "Electro" And a marked "Professional".
All in reasonable condition & all working, unlike some of my other GSN GT`s etc.
I think the main problem of dysfunction in the Uk is a leaky battery!!!
