Yashica EZ F521 I honestly don't know if I should laugh or not.

However, I might just get it when it becomes available.

I really don't know what to think of this camera. It definitely reminds me of the old rangefinders and yashica af cameras. Could this point to a digital GSN in the near-by future ?

I can't comment anything reasonable, I'm still shocked :)

its a strange looking beast indeed. the use of AA batteries reminds me of the older canon A series powershots.
 
I've not decided anything yet. But i might end up buying it if it ever reach Ebay or some store netshop in the U.S. It seems to be hard finding much information about it though.
 
I am going to buy one of these if I cant find one. This is cool!

On another note, who would have thought Yashica would be the people who finally figured out you can put an optical viewfinder of decent size of this type on a digital camera?
 
I have one on pre-order, looks like too much fun to ignore. :)

edit: this being manual focus, might it possibly have very little shutter lag compared to other cheap cameras?

I'll write something up for my very infrequently posted-on blog and post it here as well. Probably won't be until November sometime.
 
Announced price said to be $89.

I am trying to figure out what I will want more...this or a 4x5 pinhole camera, they are about the same price here but the Yashica I probably won't find anywhere...
 
Announced price $89, the only place I could find that'll ship to the US wants around $110 (depending on exchange rate).

It's worth noting that it probably shares the internals with the Yashica F524 which has pretty much identical specs.
 
And another thing I thought interesting. Some other F924 pictures I came across has some serious waviness in them -- could this be because of a CMOS sensor with electronic shutter, similar to the 'rolling shutter' effect we've seen on CMOS based video recording?
 
Just a quick bump here... according to Dirk at Japan Exposures it should start shipping from the manufacturer in two days, so he should have an early copy to review before long.
