Yashica G

Along with an Agfa Karat 36 I picked up a Yashica. The camera is a black body model marked G and professional in the lower right front.
I've never seen one marked this way and was wondering if anybody could give me some info...

The Yashsica model G was mfg. in the late 60's, early 70's and was just a black version of the the chrome G model. These have a "cold" flash shoe rather than a "hot" flash shoe, which came out with their GTN and GSN models. There's really nothing special about them - why Yashica called it their professional model I don't have a clue. Sales advertising hype. However, the Electro 35 series are long time favorites of mine and I've been shooting them for 35 years. I presently have two GSNs, one GTN and a MG1.

The "Professional" model is some what rare. Don't see them very often. Same great Yashinon f1.7 fast lens as the GSN I think. Same meter system. Usually sell for quite a bit more $$$. A keeper in my book for sure!!

It needed a good cleaning and reseal but I had it done in short order and took it out today for a test run. So far negs look good.

Be sure to post some photos when you get 'em done. Love to see them. BTW what part of our hot dry state do you reside in? Any where near the Capital? We are the same age also.

I was born in Texarkana but currently live in Fort Worth though I plan to move before the end of the year. Not sure where I want to go next but most anywhere is better than the polluted air here in the Metroplex.

I turn a year older in 9 more days. Once ya hit 50 the years take off.
