What kind of battery did you put in - are you sure it was a 6 volt?
Check www.yashica-guy.com to learn how to open the camera up.

jorge,
If you have the correct battery (& possibly an adapter?) make sure you have removed the little "+" sticker from the battery cover, and that the metal under it is clean and free from old adhesive. The original battery had a + contact that was large enough to contact the metal rim around the sticker - most adapters do not.
The other thing to check for is corrosion of the spring at the top of the battery chamber, caused by a leaking battery some time in the past. This can even result in the wire insde the camera rotting off! If you need a new battery compartment send me a PM with your address.
Hope that helps

Most cameras I've purchased through eBay seemed dead but actually it's corrosion on the battery contacts. Take white vinegar (and only white vinegar, not alcohol), get it pretty saturated on the end of a cotton swab and clean the contactis inside the battery compartment. For the part that unscrews, I've even dropped that in a shot glass of white vinegar for a spell.
Let it set for a while until it's all dry, then give it a try. You may have to repeat this process a few times.
These are cameras that I thought were dead, until I cleaned out the battery compartment:
- Yashica Electro CC
- Fujica Compact Deluxe
- Canonette 28
- Lynx 14e
Come to think of it, none of them worked upon receipt, the others were serviced prior to purchase.

I had this problem with a gsn bought on the Bay, just a disconnected wire from the pin, under the battery compartment, you have to unscrew the bottom plate, then the plastic battery compartment because the unsoldered wire is under.i just added 10cm of wire to make it works.
