I bought a Yashica GSN about 10 years ago that had been completely rebuilt by a reputable repair service. I don't remember if the counter never worked or only worked for one roll. I got sidetracked and it sat in the case in a drawer untill a few days ago.
I saw a post with a link to a repair guide from Matt's Classic Camera and it shows how to get access to the counter, but no more.
Anyone have any idea what to do after I get to it?
OR...I would send it in for repair. I contacted Mark Hama, but his price($135) was for a complete overhaul, which it clearly doesn't need. I responded that the camera was pristine except for the counter, but haven't gotten back a response, yet. Is there someone who will repair without doing a full rebuild?
Or advice on a DIY fix would be good.
It's a great camera - so, so quiet - but I need a counter.
Thanks,
Matt

One thing to look for is if there is a bit of the old seal stuck in the lever that protrudes into the door channel on the back (the S Reset). This is one of the main things which causes counter failures.
Another would be a tension spring tail having slipped off a pin.
Somehow, I've never taken apart one of my G series Electro's yet, so I don't have any photos of the counter area, Matt.
If you don't want to tackle it yourself, you might want to contact Russ at Yashica Electro 35 Restoration and Releathering Services

I'm pretty sure the camera was completely done when I bought it so it seems unlikely there's any old seal there. The end of the spring being off sounds viable, though, since I seem to remember it worked when I got it. I'm pretty sure I would've sent it back if it hadn't.
The guy in the link is temporarily not taking cameras.
I might take a shot myself.
Thanks,
Matt
