Hi Everyone,

I replaced the PoD of my Yashica Electro 35 GSN by making a pad from 2mm thick hard rubber washer. However, it still does not clunk when I advance the film-wind lever.

Longer exposures still behave as "bulb", i.e., the shutter closes as soon as I release the shutter trigger. :bang:

Yellow and red lights behave correctly, as far as I can tell.

Does the PoD need to be thicker?

I would be grateful for any leads.

Thanks,
Anirban

2mm sounds ok, i would expect, and you say it's hard material so should not compress too much. DOn't know. Are you sure it still is in place?
I replaced the pod from sililar material, same thickness, and worked forever.
Look up the exact thickness on yashicaguy's page, maybe, but i think it should be indeed 2mm-ish.

I figured out why!

I figured out why!

Hi,
I figured out why!

:)

The pawl at the bottom that presses against the shutter release rod (and catches the ledge on the rod when shutter is trigerred) uses a spring. In my case, this spring was off, so the pawl did not press against the rod at all.

My old beauty clunks now, and long exposures work fine too!!

Now I just have to get Jon Goodman's light seal kit from the drawer and then some Kodak Gold film.
