I just got a GTN and notice that it has a silver shutter release button ? I also found that the battery check light doesn't work, apart from that it's in mint condition so I'm pleased. but I cant help wonder if the silver button is an indicator or repairs at some point. does anyone else have a GT or GTN with a silver release button? and apart from the obvious should I be concerned that the BC light doesn't work. I've used an adaptor to take a 4LR44 battery, how long should they last in these cameras?

thanks, I have GT also that has black everything, and I just noticed the GTN also has silver on the hot shoe mount and the rewind crank is silver too, all of which are black on the GT, so maybe I just have a freak camera with the GTN. It functions beautifully so I'm not really worried. how lomg do your batteries last ? any idea.

Hi d_ross. I think you must have a modified GTN. I have 2 and they are all black. Enjoy your panda GTN.

I also have 2 and they have no silver. Batteries last longer than a year - that's when I put mine in.

what "sign of tampering" you expect to see, d_ross ? In most cases top cover can be removed without smashing it with hammer
If there are no apparent scratches and streaks, this means somebody worked on it rather carefully which is good sign.
How originally is "blackened" shutter button on black YE35 versions - color coated or somehow else ? I try to imagine how easy is to work off or loose blackening of shutter button ?

Time to forget the shutter button and shrug. It's a beauty, looking at the shot - Unless you're a collector, it should have no impact on you or your enjoyment of shooting with it. Some of my best photos were taken with an E35 of some flavor or other. (slightly off-subject; I STILL don't like the metering system of "off" lights in the VF)

1. I have a GTN and a GT and both have black shutter release buttons.
2. Personally, I'd take the silver shutter release as absolute evidence of a repair. In fact, if it were not for that lens, I'd wonder if the camera started off as a GTN.
3. If it looks good and works, who cares? It isn't like the GTN is a red hot collector's item and someone knocked $200 off of it's value.

the thing that interests me is that the camera is in such pristine condition and if you look at the picture its not just the shutter button thats silver, but also the rewind handle is silver, and also the hot shoe, which are all black on my GT.
There are no obvious signs of repairs btgc, it looks like the screws have never been touched. and unless as you say it was smashed with a hammer or run over by a truck, which it obviously hasnt been, why would you replace these parts ?
So I'm wondering if it's a rare one

This may or may not be of any interest to Electro owners, but Mrk Hama tells me that the GTN I have with the silver shutter release button, rewind crank etc, is original, the latest one.
