3 Yashica Cameras, 3 damaged pieces of leatherette!
Minister III, J and Lynx 1000,
All from the same side, the other side came off ok! Is it just my fat fingers?
Does anyone make the same pattern covering? Or similar?
And even more unlikely, in the UK?

Cheap Leather

Cheap Leather

Finally found some Camera leather @ Micro tools. Sell it in various sized pieces,
I bought 2 Sq feet for about £10.00. Very reasonable. Just have to cut it yourself!!!!

try Cameraleather.com

Second that - Morgan has provided lovely coverings for a couple of my cameras and he has a pretty comprehensive set of patterns. Unfortunately he doesn't list one of the models you mention. If you send him the camera(s) he will do a custom. Good guy to do business with in my experience.

Or you can get real .3mm thick pebble textured black kidskin leather (only thing thin enough) on ebay for about $1.

I didn't like the cameraleather.com cheaper offerings. Quality of the material is poor in my opinion... I liked Morgan's kidskin but it is pricey and the adhesive if used as supplied is not easily reversible if you ever want to get the camera apart again... roger

Try this: http://stores.ebay.com/Fashion-Leather-International_Special-Price-Skins_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ10QQftidZ2QQpZ2QQtZkm What you want is the goat skin or the baby lambskin, .3mm to .4mm thick.

I've done several cameras with the goatskin, and I have photos of them in my gallery, but they were not really taken with the idea of showing off the leather in particular. These are probably the ones that will give you the best idea of what the leather would look like on a camera (there are at least a few highlights on them that show the grain pattern -- kind of a small pebble finish):

The leather is very definitely top grade (Italian garment-grade leather) and the price is way down there. The drawback is that you will have to measure and cut it yourself and it doesn't come adhesive backed. You'll have to go out and get your own adhesive (I don't much like Pliobond and use Elmer's Professional Contact Cement -- it dries just a little slower). It is a little less durable than the goatskin, but if you want a close match to what is on a Yashica GSN, the baby lambskin's texture is very close. Given the choice though, I'd replace the whole covering and I'd use the goatskin.

If you get stuck and don't mind cutting your own, I have a small supply of calfskin leather which is ideal for camera coverings and some suitable double sided adhesive. Send me a PM if you need some.
