Hi,
Has anyone here fixed the stuck shutter in a Yashica Lynx 14E? I have a camera that looks like new, but the shutter does not open. I also need a battery for the meter.

Basically it's a Copal shutter, not much different from shutter on Lynx 5000 or Konica Auto S2 or similar. If person is able to CLA Copal shutter it will do your Lynx. Most of times blades stick each to other and have to be cleaned one by one.
Can't say about battery (don't have any of E models) but in experience that old meters aren't too exact to trust them. But some people say they are OK. Lynxes have carbon tracks in lens barrel changing resistance in circuit and are weak link besides cell.
Who works on Lynxes this days? Mark Hama (isn't he retired?)? Russ@camerarefurb? Good luck reviving your Lynx, these are great cameras.

Thank you for the tips. I will look a repairman who has worked on the Lynx.
It is info@camerfurb.com. They seem to be specializing in Yashica cameras, and they even have a battery adapter for $4.95.

Raid,
Russ at Camera Refurb has done three Yashicas for me including a Lynx 5000. His work is top notch at a fair price.

Raid,
Strangely the original mercury battery for the Lynx 14e is still available in an alkaline variant. The original mercury cell battery was an E640 (two batteries needed). The alkaline equivalent is a PC640A. You can buy them here: http://24hourbatteries.com/shop/pc640abattery__424.html
Yashica's wonderful 7 element, 5-group high quality lens is optimized for available light shooting. You'll never missing having a hot shoe because you won't need a flash. The only downside to this great lens is that it's easy to flare. I use a Cannon 60mm clamp-on hood.
Enjoy the camera!
