Another eBay 'bargain' I picked up over Christmas... a Lynx 5000 in very good cosmetic condition. Everything seems to work fine, apart from the meter.
The meter, is frustratingly close to working. Here is how it went:
Popped a battery in and the meter responded immediately when I pointed the camera at a light bulb.
After the third or fourth press of the metering button, it failed to respond.
No response for another few presses.
After fiddling around with the aperture, it responded another couple of times, before dying again.
I find that if I turn the camera on its side and give it a gentle shake, I can get it to respond for a while.
10 successful meter readings in a row is the record so far
I can hear something moving inside when I roll the camera. Something small.
The button sometimes seems a little sticky, and slow to return. Sometimes it doesn't.
Anyone experienced something similar? Or have any idea what it could be?
I'm happy to open the camera up if there is a possibility of a fix.

You will most likely need to open up the camera- could be one of many, many things. The meter itself could be sticking, something could be jamming it, or an electrical connection is intermittent.
