Yashica M5 Winder Arm Jammed

Hi, I have a Yashica M5 and the winder arm is jammed. Can anyone give me pointers about where to start looking? (It's at full rotation and won't move forward or backward). The shutter won't fire, but the button does not resist.

Does anyone have a manual for a similar model? What are the normal causes for winder jams? I know naptha to the shutter is the basic fix, but right now I don't have a lens spanner. Is there anything else I can try?

I have a bunch of jammed wind arm/stuck shutter cameras: Konica Auto S2, Canonet 25, Electro Professional (not jammed just stuck), Yashica Electro M5. If anyone has advice (manuals, step-by-step) particular to these cameras, it would be appreciated. Specifically I'm wondering how to reset the double-wind-on catch for Konica Auto S2, I've seen reference to this problem but no details. Thanks

Start by removing the base plate (bottom cover) and inspect the mechanism. In two of the Yashicas I have worked on for stuck winding levers, I found lost screws stuck in the lower linkage of the winding mechanism. Also check to make sure that there is no film in the camera, you wouldn't be the first here who has done it.

Thanks Frontman. Checked for film, there is none. Checked for loose bits under base plate. I didn't see anything unusual but I've never looked before. The wind arm has a bit of free play, but does not appear to affect anything under the baseplate. I've posted a picture here and a video of the free-play here http://youtu.be/HZEOhRxMx_w

Are any schematics available which would explain the wind-arm mechanism? What would cause it to lock at the end of the stroke?

I've noticed that a plate in the wind-arm train looks tilted. Could this be related? Pictures here and here.

I see a brass gear on the bottom of the upper wind arm mechanism hitting a silver tab preventing the arm from returning. See detailed footage here.

Could the tab be out of place? Is this what's causing the problem?

Ok, I think the upper winder arm was mounted 180 off and it was hitting the tab that it sits against in the "normal" position.

Now the upper wind arm is mounted properly (or what I think is properly) and I fixed the tilted plate at the bottom.

It looks like the wind arm is somehow directly coupled to the shutter. I can wind the arm about 1/2 or 1/3 full stroke, and the shutter opens/closes with it. Any idea what could cause this?video

*edit* I've also begun opening the lens but I'm not sure what to do next. Any advice? Lens opening
