Yashica Minimatic-C

Hi,
Just bought a Yashica Minimatic-C for AUD10 from a fleamarket. Seems to be working fine but where is the battery compartment? Or does it use batteries at all? Can anyone help please? Can't seem to find any info on the net or the yashica-guy's page.

ak-siong, I have a Minimatic-C that I inheriteded from my father. A great little camera, you will notice a bubble like plastic surrounding the lens, this contains a selenium cell whitch powers the camera. Hopfully it hasn`t died, to pro-long its life, keep the lens cap on when not in use. Did you get the ERC with it? Well made two part leather case with horrible plastic carry strap, mine is grey leather, don`t know of other colours. It takes great snapshots with 400 ISO Fuji, I still have some 35yr old Kodachromes floating about some where. God luck with it and enjoy.

Thanks for the reply. I think the selenium meter is dead in mine. Anyway still a nice camera. The leather case is black for mine.

ak-siong, sorry to hear that the meter is dead. Try looking up cameraquest site, there was something on there about rebuilding selenium lightmeters, try contacting the yashicaguy. He may be able to help, it would be sad to see it end up as a display model. I notice that the ERC does NOT have the horrible plastic strap, BONUS.
