I have never had any issues with any lenses which I have tried. The Yashica is a pretty good copy of a Leica M, at least dimensionally.

Stopped by on my way back from Indiana, and looked at the YF again. It has a Canon lens on it! Couldn't tell which one though, as the angle was wrong. Man, it's going to be beans and rice for the rest of the month.

Then my life just got better BTGC, because I got the camera later this morning. It was the Canon 50mm f:1.8 (as marked) which is the latest version (3) from what I have read so far. And there was enough left over to get a loaf of bread too (multi-grain at that)!
The camera top has a little green in spots, and the lens is ultra hazy, so it's not something I'll be shooting right away. Though I could try out the 90mm Elmar I got a couple of weeks ago. Shutter speeds are suspect, but then I may not have the setting sequence down yet. I need to find a manual for it (no luck with Butkus). It did come with the ERC, which has probably protected the chrome surround on the front viewfinder frame. Lot's of times I see photos of these where they are somewhat beat up around the edges. But it sounds good, feels good, the inside is clean, the Vulcanite type covering is intact, and the take-up spool is there.
I think one should suffer just a little bit for the priviledge of owning some great cameras.

If you're looking for a 50/1.8 Yashinon, I have 1 in user condition, i.e., broken infinity lock (which some might consider a benefit) & some cleaning marks but nothing optically serious, that I could sell you.

Well, the camera is definitely going to have to go in for an overhaul. After further inspection, I just realised that the film spool retaining cup on the base plate (right above the tripod socket) is missing. So there is nothing to support the spool, and it's also one big light leak. The previous owner must have used a very long tripod screw to be able to push out the cup like that. Guess it's going to Mark Hama then.
