I need another camera like I need another hole on my head, but what is a reasonable price (in USD) for one of these in good condition? Are they rare?

I see them from time to time on ebay, though I'm not careful watcher. To compare, I have seen them more often than Minister 700 with f1.7 lens. Another thing I've concluded that Professional model (we know, it's early model) is more age prone and needs repair practically in all cases, if it's not done before sale.
I will not predict prices because in EUbays they tend to be higher.
I also will not express my opinion on your need of this camera 🙂 just because I also have got some cameras because of same motivation. Good luck!

The "professional" is the first generation black Electro 35 - black Electros sell a bit more expensive than silver ones, but still, the Electro was built for two decades and sold in very large numbers, and users tend to prefer later models (GTN). Current Electro 35 ebay prices in Europe range from 10-45 Euro regardless of variant (with black versions more often than not settling for the middle to top of that range), unless it is in a collectable (near mint) state optically or has been CLA'd recently.

I think these electro professionels are more rare than the last black GTN,
but they are not that perfect than the GTNs.
The viewfinder is a less clear and the focus spot is not that bright than on a GTN.
There is a improvement between the early modells and the later one.
I've 4 electros, the oldest is the professional and when you open the topplate you see different parts.
But, taking photos and comparing them you'll cant detect wich it camera is.
Only comparing them in both hands.
I think the professionel is the most beautyfull of them it has a lot of charm.
but they are not that perfect than the GTNs.

I have an early Professional model, With no Professional markings at all!!
Strange you may think? The early model had just a sticker on the back above the film door, and had 4 screw fixing the base plate(see Yashica Guys site). the later one had 3 screws and a badge on the front. i am assuming that mine has lost its sticker.
My model is tatty, but fully functional apart from the battery check light.

4 screw bottoms are VERY early models. I am surprised that yours works at all. Every one that I have bought (6 or7) has been dead on arrival due to the lack of gold plated contacts. I had to upgrade them with lens/meter units from later models. I did this because I prefer the styling of the early ones, such as the all metal film winding lever, external film door release with cutout bottom, 2D printed Electro emblem, etc.

Lets hope the prices keep going up & up.
Paid $21.00 for mine a couple of weeks ago.
Took a few questions & some investigations to confirm what model.
Shipping was more than camera.
Looking for a later Professional now.
Just replaced the contact on battery door, & off she went,
I think the check light must be a problem with electros, i dont
think any of my early ones with the separate light work.... And a GSN.

I'll stay away from "Pro" model 🙂 last summer we had music event where security declared "cameras for professional use will not be allowed". One thing is how security judge if camera fits bill (they would pass Leica and restrict digital superzoom, I guess), though Electro Pro would be event breaker for me. Go prove them that Electro is amateur camera because of automatic speed selection, while on body is "Professional" plate!
