I have a Yashica Samurai (one of the transparent demonstration models) that i have had since new. The shutter is jammed open and I can't find a repair shop prepared to fix it - either in Australia or the US. I have another which I would sacrifice for spares. Does anyone know of a camera repairer prepared to under take the job?

I have a quote from Shutterbug in 2004. It may be out of date; but, it might be worth a try. Essex Camera (accessible online) in NJ used to have a price listed for repair of the Samurai; I'm not sure if they still do, but that might be worth a try, too.

Here's the quotation: <<Yashica Samurai Repair
reference from 2004 Shutterbug

. I just spoke with a person at Kyocera, the importer of Yashica/Contax products in the U.S.A. Although they do have some Samurai parts, they do not do repairs. But, they told me this firm does: Nippon Photo Clinic, 920 Broadway, Suite 703, New York, NY 10010; (212) 982-3177. You might want to contact them to determine if they can fix your members’ half-frame cameras.>>

I have a Sam 3 that needs repair, too (resetting after replacement of system battery); but, I keep putting it off because I have another one from a pawnshop that still works.

Thanks for the information

I'll check out your leads. The camera that I'm prepared to sacrifice works ok, but I am emotionally attached to the other one. I acquired it when I worked on the Samurai launch in Australia.
