Yashica T4 Super - Recent Images

I was recently gifted with a Yashica T4 Super, and am still getting used to it's operation. I recently exposed several rolls of Ilford FP4 Plus through this nice point and shoot, some in Albuquerque and some in Carrollton, Texas, during a business trip.

The film was souped in Rodinal 1+50 for 18 minutes. I still don't have the hang of stand development, these rolls were agitated for about 5 seconds every minute, but the grain is okay to me.

I was pleased with the shallow DOF in this image. Being a P&S, you can't preview DOF.

I had two of them, I sold them on *bay for £150 each and i got an olympus infinity + EF 50 f/1,8 + 30 rolls of Tri-x + ID11 and I've got some money left.
The T4 took some wonderful pictures but i cannot see any difference between it and the Olympus.

Maybe it's just mine, but my infinity stylus has a few issues I can't get over. It takes great photos in daylight, but I shoot alot in dim situations with flash and it has trouble with auto-focus in low light. Also, when shooting stuff close-up (6 feet and closer) the image is not sharp corner to corner. The T4 does mis-focus, but not as much. Maybe it's nitpicking, but that's why I keep my T4.

For the price, the Infinity Stylus is most definitely worth it!

I agree, would've thought there be more T4/T* fans around here. Had more keepers on my last roll than in a long time. It just works. Only gripes are having to turn the flash off every time I turn it on, vignetting, and occasional focus issues on landscapes where it picked the foreground.

Have you used it yet? A few other folks here mentioned having one, but haven't seen much posted for images. I'm working on the first roll in my T3, and have equally high hopes for its lens.

I love my T4. Ive had a streak lately, finding nice cameras at the thrifts for cheap... Two T4s for $5 or less, one sold, one permanently in my coat pocket.

I can't tell you how pleased i am with its performance. I actually like the vignetting. I agree that it is a bother to turn off the flash every time I turn it on, but it's become habit - three of those quiet clicks - and I often leave it on when I anticipate...er...needing it in a hurry.

It's more the feel and warmth of this camera than the lens's rendering that makes me keep it on me almost all of the time. And it feels of quality in the hand, no looseness or sloppy action.

Yes I have used it. Love the WL finder. The lens is f2.8, a stop faster than the T4 is.

I do like the looks of the T4 more. The T3 looks "dated" somehow. Got a T2 as well 😀

I regularly check the thrifts here where I live. A couple weeks back, the Goodwill store down the street had the less desireable silver T4 in a glass case. They have recognized this cameras' worth and it was sold at store auction for over $100 in untested condition.
You were quite fortunate to have found two cameras the way you describe. However,
I will continue the search !!

i love the colors that i get from my t4. i just shoot cheap kodak gold/ultramax film from cvs with it. these are all straight from the scanner. only resized.

We have two of them. One purchased new in the mid-90s and sent to oceanography grad school with my s.o., the other picked up for $6 at a thrift store. Now one T5 lives in the car's glove box and the other is for bike rides in the rain.

Great cameras, but lately I've been carrying my Nikon Lite•Touch AF (another thrift pickup) because it's smaller, has a bit less shutter lag, and has a 28mm lens that's nearly as good as the T5's 35. It's not weatherproofed, though.

Either 28 or 50. Rather 50mm because Konica Off-road 28 already is perfect wide angle P&S.
