Hello all,
I recently picked up a nice, clean Yashica T4D. it's the black version and not the "Super" or "Super D" version with the little superscope thing. I'm just curious as to what the "D" designates and if it's any different from its "Super" counterparts.
It lacks the "Weatherproof" designation on the front and the superscope on the top, but are they otherwise the same?
I've also read that the black models tend to be more desirable. Is this just a preference or do the black ones have added features/different build, etc.
Any help would be great as all of my Google searches just turn up information regarding the Super variations of the camera (both D and non-D models).
Thank you in advance for any replies.
Regards
Matthew

Well duh.
Don't I feel like the village idiot!
Thanks.
So I'm guessing the T4 is a lesser model than the T4 Super? Strange considering they go for a similar price (only about $10-20 difference from what I can tell).

The T4 was the original, The T4Super is the later, upgraded version that added weather proofing and the waist-level finder. The superb optics and electronics remained the same, as fas as I know. I had an original T4, used it heavily, then later upgraded to a T4Super that I still have today.

Did you notice any mechanical/operational differences? What was your reason for upgrading?

The standard color for all versions of the T4 was black. The light colored ones were much rarer and I thought they were the ones that brought a higher price. However, I could be wrong. Both colors of the same model have the same features.

The T4 / T4 super are amazing cameras. Had one for a few weeks and made some really great photographs with them. They handle well and the exposure / metering system is extremely accurate.
