I am going to think the answer is no but I thought I would ask ... anyone have any tips on taking a Yashica YF apart?

ive replaced curtains on a yashica YE, I would guess once you’ve taken the top of the YF it will be basically like most other Leica screw mount copies underneath.

Hmm, I have a feeling that the internals of the YF would be common to many others including the YE.

I experience any surprises that I seem to remember. I replaced the curtains, one of the winding gears was seized and I put a new beam splitter in. Nothing too surprising when taking it apart when compared to the other Leica copies, everything was where you’d expect it to be.. The only difference was the lever wind. I actually had more trouble getting into a Tanack camera because it was rear door loading instead of being a bottom loader.
As for the snider camera, no never seen it, even nicca cameras are quite rare here!

OK, thanks. I have taken a Leica IIF, Canon IIF and the Minolta-35 ... if it is like the Leica then I should be OK.

I've got one I was going to take apart, but the previous owner broke off a set screw on the shutter speed dial, so until I get some small left hand drill bits, it will just sit. I could have swore there was a site that I bookmarked that showed a tear down, but from what I recall of seeing it's somewhat straightforward.

Click on Drill Bits and then scroll way down the page. They have fractional, wire gauge and metric sizes. Individual bits in small sizes run about $5 each.

I am working on getting the slow speed dial off so I can get inside.
Got the knob off, the centre screw, and the retaining ring ... but the rest does not want to come off. The numbered dial seems to be "attached" somehow, I was expecting it to simply pull off.
Any suggestions ?

OK, this is not the same as other Barnack type ... no need to remove the slow speed dial.

Hmm, the one I have does not have stripped screws ... but, I cannot make them turn (I don't want to strip them) ... so I am stuck also.

If they won't turn, then maybe they have some thread locker on them. A small drop of 90% or higher alcohol could loosen things up.

Tried different solvents/chemicals and cannot get the set screws to move ... even tapping with force/hammer did not unfreeze them. Very frustrating as this is on of the best LTM cameras I've gotten a hold of. I hate the idea of drilling out the screws (even with left handed).
