YASHINON f1.7 vs f2.8

I hava mint GSN that has the fantastic Yashinon DX f1.7 lens. I remember that I had, about 25 years ago, an MG-1 with the Yashinon f2.8 that from memory was a sharp lens. Alas I do not have the MG-1 anymore so a comparison is not possible ( even my MG-1 negs are 'lost' ). Does anyone have comparison results as to performance between these two lenses?
I am considering trying to obtain an MG-1 again and would like the 'good oil' ( Aussie expression ) on the lens.

My MG is pretty "cheesy" (USA expression) means cheaply built. If I were you, I'd opt for a GX/ CC/ CCN. Just my opinion.

IMHO the lens on the GSN is superior in all respects to the MG1,( I have both), as is the exposure system. Unless you find the fact that filters are automatically compensated for in the MG1 there really is no reason to use one. Stick to the GSN, it's a much better camera. I'm not saying that the MG1 isn't a good camera, it's simply not up to the standard of the GSN. If you want another rangefinder camera as well as the GSN, how about a Minolta 7s or 9 or a Konica Auto S2. Both these cameras have lens that will challenge the GSN.

I really like the black GTN--bright yellow patch and built very well. Lens is excellent, but as "howpow" says, the 7s and Auto S2 give me equal results.

Thank you for the opinions.
I will stick to the Electro G series. A black GTN would be nice even if I have to pay a bit more for it.

The MG1 even being it a good camera was the lower end of the Electro series, was only made in Hong Kong and build quality isn´t on a par with the japanese made cameras. Besides it was the last fully metal made camera made by Yashica, however it doesn´t feel as solid as it should be.
The lens itself isn´t better than any other Yashinon 45/2.8.
The only benefit it has is the automatic filter compensation, but the auto shutter goes only to 2 sec (no provision fro B) instead of 30+ sec. for the Electro 35 . This together with a slower lens makes it not a camera of choice.
That´s why I sold mine less than a year later of buying it.
The Konica Auto S2 as well as others of that era are better choices IMHO.
