Today the postman brought me my ordered Rondinax. I am a completely beginnner in developing fillms. I already regretted buying this item. I was asking myself things like " Why do u always buy this old crap from the bay it is never as described..." and so on. But today I am a winner, the box is in good shape and I already figured out how it works.

my next steps:
get some films
go out and shoot
get the chemicals
and try this heavy box from the older days.

Does anyone has experiences with the rondinax. Or any advices on developer, fixer and film. I heard good things about tri-x + d76.
What are your favourite film developer combos? Did anyone ever made b&w slides?

MY favorites are T-max developed in XTOL (1+3) and EFKE 100KB or Agfa APX 100 developed in rodinal (1+50). I also like T-max developed in rodinal, but final result is a bit too grainy for some purposes.

I almost always end up shooting T-max because a roll of tri-x usually costs almost twice as much as T-max...

Later today I'm going to run my first roll through the Rodinax I recently got. It should be an interesting experiment 😀

What is with this strange revival in these units? I don't find using a changing bag and regular tank particularly difficult so...anyway.

What kind of look are you after? Tell us what you're looking for and we can make about 100 reccommendations 🙂

With the loss of Agfa Scala there aren't any more B&W positive film out there anymore. You can get negative film developed into positives by dr5, or get the tmax or foma reversal kits.

Reversal of BW film is les and less common.

I guess clear base films would do a better job, and you can always take pictures of your negatives in them and process normally.

Look in the internet, there is more than one way to do this

I just found an B&W slide film that can be processed like a normal B&W film.
So it is better than scala in terms of processing it at home. It is called Fomapan R.
Not yet tried it. But I will.

Is it really a revival? For me this Rodinax was the cheapest thing to get into development of film. I think later a will get a bigger tank and stuff. But for now it suits very well. New darkroom equipment is more expensive and it takes a lot of time to get everything u need on the bay.

For me, just the fun value of trying something different. I've got a roll in mine right now with the Diafine B soup in it. If it works even reasonably, then it does become an easier to deal with travel developing tank since I can leave the changing bag home unless the Speed's coming too.
