Yet another 50mm 'vs' question

Posted this in another form on the VC forum, but maybe it fits better here . . .

I'm looking for a 50mm lens to use with my newly purchased (but very used) VC R2.

Currently have two possibilties on the radar and would like to get a sense of their different 'characters' before buying.

Dealer is offering a very clean Summitar with a recent CLA.

Also, an Elmar f/2.8 (1958-1974 version) with minor marks on the front element but fine otherwise.

A Summicron as well, but it's more than I want to spend.

What would be a fair prices for these lenses?

Or should I just forget Leica and get a J8? 😱

Also, want to make sure either can fully, safely collapse into an R2.

The J8 is a great lens, and the chances of getting a dud are slim, especially when you buy from the reputable (eBay) dealers. For the price it can't be beat.

But let that not stand in the way of getting one of them Leica thingies. I hear they're pretty good as well. 🙂
