Hi,

I'm new to this forum although I have posted once or twice on the Yashica one. I've just, today, received my lovely spanking new Bessa R with 35/2.5 lens. I have to say I'm rather chuffed with it so far. 😀 But then I haven't put a film through it yet!

I've been using a DSLR for a couple of years and have recently gone back to film as my primary medium (I won't necessarily go into "why" now as there are already too many film vs digital threads on the net). I do all my own film processing (C41, E6 and B&W) and printing (B&W, RA4 and Ciba) and am really looking forward to seeing what I can do with this new baby.

I've bought this little rangefinder mainly so I can have a "take anywhere" camera. I have a Yashica GS but I found it a little clunky and in need of some maintenance. The Bessa should serve me well for a few years with normal servicing before it gets to that state.

Anyway, I hope to be in a position to post some scans in the next few days with the weekend coming up.

All the best,
/Phil.

Err... chuffed = pleased, happy, very contented 😀

Welcome to the forum Phil. Where abouts in the UK are you based, North , South etc.

The Bessa should serve you fine. It's also good to hear of another who not only does B&W but C41 & RA4 and E6. I've not tried Cibachrome yet but would wecome advice.

Cheers.

Yes...chuffed.... It means I'm quite happy with my purchase, thank you very much. 😀

Fred, I'm south. About 6 miles from Guildford.

Ciba's a piece of cake unless you want to get into contrast masking. Not tried that myself as I'm also "chuffed" by the results I'm getting without masking.

I just totally stole that word...ill be using that for sure...im sure I will get some weird looks...but hey with enough work it will be used in pop culture...watch!

CHUFFED....🙂

Wait until some Brit tells you they "plumped" for a camera. I thought it meant they were sporting a chubby. It actually means they spent money. I was so disappointed.

yes, but just how many leicas do you have?

Dunno......some.......

a pair of M4P's with 35 and 75 like you said...........I use them quite a bit.....

an M3 ds with a noct..........'cause there's nothing to beat it for single camera shoots....

a black IIf with a 50 elmar f3.5...............'cause it goes in one's pocket........

some others that I like airing now and then like IIIa with f2.5 50 Hektor.......what a "look" that one gives, FrankS would like one of those.........

I've only got a couple of Canons and they're both reflex.......we don't talk about them..

you've embarrased me now ! .....................

I will happily make my 5000th post a big belly laugh. 😀

Hi,

well I finally got around to developing the first film from my R. Here's a sample of the photo's. I'm resonably pleased with them considering it was blowing a gale at the time and I could barely stand up!

I have a few more I may add when I've scanned them. This scanning lark is a pain compared to printing in the dark room. 😀

/Phil.
