YIIIPPEEEEE !! Received my Free Kodak Film today! =) !!!!!!

not having received "free" goods by mail is hardly something to complain about. receiving something you cannot use at no cost to yourself is also not something to complain about.

Who raised (some of) you people?!?

You are making a distinction here that makes little sense: "Because something is free, I should not care if I recieved it or not."

Au Contraire. Yes, I understand that the film is free, but I also hope you understand that there was an obligation made, on behalf of Eastman Kodak, Inc., to deliver 4 rolls of their new line of color films to any of the first 22,000 who requested via the website created. They also stated that you would receive those 4 rolls exclusively in the format requested (either all 4 to be in 120 or all 4 to be in 135)
Thus far, not recieving the films (or recieving films in formats not requested) constitutes a breach of obligations.

Now, I understand that due to the free nature of the films it should not be something to sue over, but you also should understand why some are disgruntled.

This comes with no intention of starting a flame war, though the unwanted might result.

I am not saying the films given by Kodak were ever compensated for financially. They were not.
I am saying that Kodak made an obligation to the consumer and applicant of their Free Film offer.

nothing more, nothing less.

Please, do not respond to this; there should be nothing to respond with.

are people still receiving this free film? Or did my order get treated as:
120 Film
35mm film
X Please send no film at all

Thank you for participating in Kodak's free film give away.

Today I spoke with a customer service rep in Kodak's professional products division. Here's what I learned:

* As suspected, there were a lot of fingers in the pot for the Portra promotion. So yes, there were errors made in getting the requested format to each individual.

* Kodak doesn't want any recipient to be unhappy. If all or some of the film you received was the wrong format, feel free to give it to someone who can use it, and contact Kodak and they will be happy to send you the correct format. The rep emphasized the obvious: they want people to try the new formulations of Portra.

* Note: I didn't get push-back when I stated that Mary Jane Hellyar had more b@11s than the CEO.

So, how do you call and get your film? Well, I was asked not to publish the phone number on forums, because they really fear that with wide publication they would get inundated with lots of bogus "I never got my film!" requests. I know some may be cynical of that, but let's just take them for their word.

So, I am happy to give out the number and extension privately via email to anyone who emails me. You can email me through RFF, or directly to edunbar at rochester dot rr dot com. I'll get you the information as soon as I receive the email, but I only check that email address at home in the evenings and mornings after/before work.

BTW, in a side conversation, we talked a bit about Kodachrome. The rep stated that when K25 was discontinued many, many people within Kodak were extremely upset. They actually held a wake. The film was discontinued because of waste. The amount needed for a production run was way more than what was selling. It was simple economics. I told him that if I ever get a whiff of Kodachrome being killed off completely, I'll be down on State Street, protesting with a sign until Antonio has me arrested.

Edit: Mary Jane Hellyer is the VP over film products.

Haven't received mine yet either. But did want to say thanks to you, Trius, for taking the time to call Kodak and for posting your comments above. Hopefully I'll get lucky and mine will arrive soon and it will be the right kind so I won't have to request a replacement. But, again, thanks Trius.

Trius,

You're a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you for taking the time to call them and to let us know.

Haven't received mine yet but hopefully will do so soon.

Still waiting here as well, but considering the rate that I actually go through film right now (hint: not much, it's my busy work season) I could probably wait a few more weeks at least and not miss it at all.

Of course if I had paid for it, I'd be screaming up and down the halls 😛

Trius,

Thanks! You've earned a carefully supervised hands on tryout with Bubba, Bigfoot's younger cousin if you're ever down this way. Or I'm up that way. Bring the Toyo with you. 😎

It is laudable that Kodak wants happy, satisfied film users! I like it.

I hope I don't need that information. However, it's Tuesday and nobody west of the Mississippi seems to have seen any Kodak Tubes in the mail.

Trius, thanks for following up for us on this. I'll check my post office before asking for more info. This PO is notorious for not leaving any notice that I have a package waiting for me.

Cheers,

I got mine Wednesday 11/22 (the day before Thanksgiving) here in New Hampshire. 2 rolls of 35 and 2 rolls of 120, though I remember filling out the form for 35 only. So far, resisting the temptation of procuring a MF camera to use the 2 free 120 rolls in.

We will not tolerate anti-GAS statements like that. Go on. Do it! A nice TLR won't hurt a bit. 🙂

Mine arrived today, 12/16! I had asked for 135, but instead got four rolls of 120. Good thing I bought a MF camera 2 weeks ago.

So if you haven't received yours yet, don't despair.

You must live right. I asked for 120 & haven't gotten anything. It's a conspiracy. I know it is! It's a good thing I stocked up on Fuji for the Holidays!

my free film was finally delivered today. it's been so long that i can't remember, but i thought i indicated that i used 35mm and 120. however, my package contained the following:

1 x 160NC 135
1 x 400NC 135
2 x 400VC 135

sure, it took forever and i didn't get any medium format, but i am very happy that it finally came and i will use it happily and compare the "new grain" on the 400 to some rolls that i already have sitting in the fridge.
