I should really shoot with my Rolleiflex or 'Cord more! I've noticed that my shooting habits have changed since frequenting this site. I'm shooting more Rangefinder/viewfinder cameras just because this is such a nice place to visit and chat.

I know it's okay to post the occasional non-rangefinder shot, so here's a Rolleicord III with f3.5 75mm Tessar shot:

My issue is that I've had to fill the gallery all with shots taken in the last month. Most everything before that was done on SLR's with the exception of some stuff from way back. I can't remember what was shot on a RF that far back, so I just went out and burned up a few rolls of film so I had something to share!

I think half the reason I'm shooting with the RF more, is just for the purpose of sharing here with the gang, and for touching film again. Otherwise, I think I'd probably just grab the SLR since it feels link an extension of my arm. The RF isn't that comfortable yet, but I enjoy shooting with them again after a long hiatus.

First of all, great shot of the outhouse and tree, Frank. Very nicely done, I love the tone and composition.

I feel the same way about this site and it's ironic that I'm packing some gear for a hike to some mountain lakes tomorrow morning and what am I packing? Rangefinders! Could go light with digital, could go with the SL66 and MF quality or the Alpas I'm fond of, but I'm packing RFs instead! No question that I'm especially fond of this list which is, of course, its members. There are always choices with photography and any other medium of expression; we can always second guess ourselves and each other and say "that could have been shot with this or with that" but I'm enjoying whatever shooting I'm doing now more often than not with the RFs.

Thank you for posting your great B&W taken with the Rollei, you did a very nice job, it's a beauty.

Funny how communities work. I started checking in here about a month ago, and didn't do so earlier because I seldom shot my Hi-Matic or Yashica Electro and didn't want to post 'flex or SLR pix. But once I received and started shooting a Bessa L (technically NOT a rangefinder, right?), I felt like I had the visa... Anyway, it's a warm place and I appreciate reading and lookin around although I don't post very often because I'm a back of the room guy. Anyway, thanks.

The outhouse really brought back memories of a long ago Halloween prank we thought up to relocate a similar facility right to the center of town. We did it, got caught right after, and had to suffer the consequences publicly and at home (the latter was worse) Yes, people really used outdoor plumbing as late as the 40's in rural MO. Great shot, and a great posting for this time of year!

It's true, isn't it... I think the intent of the forum is to encourage RF use... and it does! I've felt the same influence. Pick an RF to take out to shoot... Does this extend even to pushing a purchase toward an RF rather than an SLR? Maybe another element to consider? It did occur to me recently in looking for a decent APS film camera.

Oh, I was going to say something about Frank's picture, so I'll do so with my 1000th posting. Nice shot, Frank! I like the juxtaposition of the little shed (doesn't look so much like an outhouse to me) and the big tree, each feeling crowded, perhaps, and leaning away. And I like the dreamland background too.

It immediatly made me think of a leaning building shot of mine. At the time, it was being jacked up by the house movers to slide big steel beams under it, and they tilted it one way and then the other. Shot with a Bronica RF645. 🙂

Nice shot Frank !! yours too Doug ! And don't feel bad, I'm a proud owner of a Rolleicord too and recognize I simply love the thing even if it doesn't get the use it deserves. IN FACT I love my RFs, my SLRs, my folders and probably my Linhof Technika or Mamiya Universal if I had one 🙂

They're all so beautiful that it gets really hard not to become a collector !

I don't have any problem posting my SLR photo's here, especially if it is answer to a question on a posted thread. I have a definite departure point for RF's, which I feel are the best cameras for photographing people.

A while ago the members "voted down" an SLR section; after all this is a rangefinder forum. There are other camera forums, and many RFF members frequent them as well. But I do not ever remember anyone being chastised here for posting a picture taken with an SLR. Not even for posting digital! Compare that attitude with some other forums.

It's nice to see pictures posted with some other types of cameras; some prove quite interesting.

Really, it resembles the little wooden toilets my grandparents had in the back of the garden. Just the two circular window holes on the top are missing...

Rolleicords are really nice little bros of the fancy 'flex. I should use mine more too. Now after the CLA it really shines(in working, not in its look though...😀).

But i need that stupid MF scanner!🙁 $$$

My grandparents in the Ozarks had outdoor plumbing into the 60's. In St. Joseph, MO, I helped a home owner do something at a house he rented out, and noted that it still had an outdoor john. That was in the late 50's and in the State's (at that time) 3d largest city. In Kentucky in the late 70's, I gave some lawn mower repair work to a man living alone in a small trailer. He didn't even have an outhouse, requiring one to not venture far from his trailer.

Some things die harder than others I guess.
