My number one is: When gorgeous women you hardly know contact you to have their picture taken. It has happened to me quite a few times now...

Why the hell didn't I take up photography when I was still a teenager? :bang:
 
When you buy your 5th Fed2 or Kiev4 having sold the previous four, even though each time you were determined to save save for a Leica or a Contax.

(one of these years my addled brain will learn how to post photos on the forum) If somebody else wants to post it then go for it! Thanks. Shot by my ex Stephanie Brundage, M.D. with a Minolta Autocord. The hair is mine...LOL..and I did the embroidery. I was going through boxes of old prints and ran across this one. It just seemed to fit this thread!

Your friend gets hit square in the face with a kicked soccer ball and you're more concerned whether or not you got the shot (I did.. on point of impact. Ball touching face).
 
And one I'm not particularly proud of, last night while driving home from work, there was a very big accident on the highway. They had to get STARS ambulance (helicopter ambulance, usuallu reserved for VERY serious injuries/death). I had my D300 and 70-200 in the passenger seat, grabbed it, hopped out and started snapping away.. Got back in my car thinking "wow! what a cool photo opportunity!", and didnt think about the person involved in the accident for a few minutes.

That was kind of a crappy feeling, the photos were first on my mind, and the very seriously injured passenger(s) were only an afterthought.
