For what it can do and the fact that it was (until the F6) the best 35mm film camera ever made (IMO), the Nikon F5 has to be the best value for mney out there right now. I know many prefer to avoid the bulk and weight but it is a phenomenal camera.

Aside from that, the OMx👎 series are a joy to use, as are FM, FM2👎 and FE models - and can be had, relatively speaking, for pennies.

I like almost all film cameras, but in my opinion the Nikon F90X (N90S) must be the bargain of the century right now, you can pick them up for $10-$20 and they can do 95% of what i need, and build quality is pretty good and if you get lucky you get a lens or 2 thrown in.

Over the last few months I've been gifted with a Canon AE1p (and a few lenses) and a Minolta X570 with two lenses.
Can't beat free! 😀
As to what I'm thinking of spending money on, the prices for the Nikon F801s/N8008s are very hard to resist.
The EOS Elan series has gotten to be another real bargain I think.

My all time favourite: The Chinon Memotron CE-II.

M42 mount, wide open aperture priority metering with ALL Auto M42 lenses, stepless electronic shutter.

Bought mine a decade ago for EUR 40 or so, but can now be had for only half that much if you shop carefully. Mine looks like it was tossed down a coal mine but still works like a clock. Haven't even got a lens for it when I'm done selling my 135 format stuff but I won't let go of it for sentimental reasons!

Re-covered in genuine green leather. And black paint over brass too! 😎

Nikon F80 - a brilliant camera. I bought one new in about 2002 for around £350, now they're often less than £35. Many in fab condition - will do 95% of what an F100 or F5 will do.

I forgot the F80 - I found one at a charity store for AUD$15. Terrific camera. Team it with the bargain Nikkor 50/1.8 AF-D and you can't go wrong.

Can only attest to what I've found in the last 2 or 3 years;

A clean and working Olympus 35RC for $35 (did need light seals)
A clean and working Canon 17 GIII for $15 (yeah, light seals again)
A like new Olympus OM4Ti for $30 (amazing! seals in good shape)

So, all three for less than a c-note, yeah, great deals are out there.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Minolta SR-T 102 paired with a 58mm f1.4 lens. I got mine for all of $30. And that was over 30 yrs ago!

The Contax G2 can still pull some good prices, so I would suggest the G1 is a real steal today.

Dollar for dollar though, the top bargain has to be the Nikon F5 -now moving for what are absurdly low amounts.

Had the same tought. The day I see a cheap Linhof I'll get one, but for the prices they command you can get a box full of other camera's mentioned here.

I was going to add Yashica FX-3 2000 to the list of others, but I recently picked up a like-new Minolta X-700 for $1.99 at my local Goodwill store 😎

A K-mount Ricoh. You can get them for next to nothing. A friend gave me several a few year’s ago and I was impressed by their performance. I’ve given several away to 20 year old’s who’ve expressed an interest in film.
