So Minolta users- what was your weapon of choice?
I currently am loving my beer can/Zeiss 24-70 and Maxxum 7 combo (had to clean off the sticky rubber, but damn the camera is NICE to use)

In the spirit of clearing out stuff- anyone want a Maxxum 5000 and 450si (for free, I'll even pay shipping)? Not exactly the top of the line bodies- but they're compact and full featured enough

I picked up a 600si a few months ago to use with my 70-210/f4.0. It's lighter that the 7000i that I bought years ago and the controls are more intuitive.

The only two I ever had are the original 7000 and the 700. Loved the 700.

I agree, the 9xi was a slick looking camera- I remember all the brochures I collected of it as a kid

I guess you will allow Dynax cameras 
The best AF camera I've used is the Dynax 9. It is amazing as it never gets in the way of getting the picture. I prefer it over the Dynax 7 and the Canon EOS 1v by a long shot (never used the Nikon F6).
The Dynax 5 is a wonderful camera, small and very capable. The only downside it has is it is a bit plasticky.
I also like my Dynax 800si, it is a bit of an ugly duckling, but it simply works. I like it as much as my Dynax 7. Very different cameras, but both are good.

I much preferred the ergos and function of the 7
So Maxxum 7 is my fave unless the Sony A850 counts

I have 7000 and 700si (gateway drugs to Sony Alpha DSLR) and now shoot the Sony a200, usually with 2.8/24 or 1.7/50, giving me 37mm and 77mm. I also have two zooms, but I like the primes. I love that Minolta color!

Have the 7000 but...favourite Maxxum body?...
For me, it has tae be the 8000i - ergonomically brilliant (and technically brilliant, in its time)...
It balances and handles beautifully whether with a 50mm prime or a 75-300 zoom. Had it since new, never missed a beat (and never been serviced, nor needed one).

No it doesn't. Tried both my Dynax 5 and Dynax 4 with my 24-85 and if anything the viewfinder looks a bit warm. The 7 viewfinder definitely looks cool and the 9 viewfinder is in between.

Anyone noticed the rubber crumbles on the 7000 and 7000i bodies? Shame, I really enjoyed the 7000i, probably will replace it with either an 800si or 600si

Had a 7000i but it was stolen well before the river had the chance to get sticky. Moved to Nikon after that, but the one model that already had a huge appeal for me was the Maxxum 9000. I loved that it offered manual film advance and the dial on the top deck was very cool in the mid eighties marrying old-style controls with newfangled tech.

I had a Dynax 5, and still have the Maxxum 450si. Gave the 5 and a couple of lenses to a friend of mine, but the 450si is on the block. As much as I like them (and the whole Minolta system for that matter, beginning with the SR), it just became another system too many, like the Canons and Olympus's.
