Jeez! Page 6 before Ernst Haas showed up. He would be high on my list, But if I had to pick one it would be Pete Turner. Back in the day I admired (and still do) the usual b&w suspects, but Pete opened my eyes to color.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned here yet--just skimming--but Elinor Carucci is very good. An up-and-coming photographer. Not street photography--something more akin to portraiture and perhaps Nan Goldin, who is also of interest. http://www.elinorcarucci.com/
Other than that there are too many to mention and I'm sure everyone has seen Winogrand, Frank, et al.
Good find! I like it a lot!
Other than that, Eggleston, Curry and are defiantly Jane Hilton are up there for me.

The obvious of course; Cartier-Bresson, Salgado, Nachtwey. Hollands most famous:Anton Corbijn.
And last but not least, the godfather and 'enfant terrible' of Dutch street-photography, Ed van der Elsken.

All-favorites: Cartier-Bresson and Sebastiao Salgado.
Newer favorites (as in, I came upon their work more recently): Rene Burri, Trent Parke, and Rangar Axelsson.

Jonas Bendiksen. Satellites is the best book I've seen produced in the last years.
Also, Sally Mann, for her children portraits...where size does matter.
