I have a v1 and v6. It's pretty close.
Both are excellent, and the overall technical excellence of the v6 photos is amazing. But for me, I prefer the v1 anyway. I like that it collapses, I like it's softer look and a bit more distinctive Bokeh. When I take pictures for other people, the v6 usually gets the nod.

DR For me... (Only because I have one on my M3)
If I was looking it would be hard to go past the latest version.
Yes it's expensive

I voted for the rigid.....it's the only one that I've ever used....I am not a big fan of the infinity lock though.....

Hi, all I know is that I'm continually amazed by my old 50mm Summicron (silver/rigid). I guess it was from the 60's.Simply put, I'd like to know which is your favourite version of Leica's venerable M-mount 50mm f2 Summicron lens.
Feel free to elaborate why you made your choice if you'd like.
Cheers.
The toughest test for it was a number of years ago when I was shooting a performance, and was only allowed to stand in the wings, stage left. The stage had tungsten lights (1k's) placed on the stage floor facing directly across the stage, and therefore directly at me. Well I could only shoot from that position so I went for it. With 2-3 spots aimed directly at the lens, the shots came out beautifully, no flare, just nice round spots. Love that lens.

I had a v4 and was completely underwhelmed in every way. Now i've got v5, tabbed, and I like it better already. Gonna hurry and finish a roll and see what the images look like

I am holding a canadian summicron 50mm (circa 1985) for a friend and ran a roll of TMAX400 through his M7. I know the TMAX is sharp anyway but with this summicron I think it was extra sharp. But it's a lovely compact easy to use 50.

version, smersion.
I owned a 50 DR and 35 cron for 25+ years. I have no idea what version the 35 was and now that I don't have it, of course, you have all made me curious. though, I doubt which version I owned ever many any difference to my work.
I will admit that miss both of 'em.

Other than the collapsible first version, to me the overall 50mm Summicron 'look' is similar to the ZM Planar 50mm. Erik's shot of the train station above for instance (Duivendrecht station?) illustrates what I mean.
Are these two similar in construction and/or general look/feel, or am I imagining it?
