My favorite is even better now that DAG added a tab to it.

Latest Summicron w/ built-in hood and the tab from the previous version!

Leica M3 and collapsible 50mm Summicron (sold it, unfortunately)

Leica M3 and 50mm Summicron DR (still love this lens)

and the up to date Leica....a Leica M9 and the current 50mm Summicron

Out of all of these, I like the ergonomics of the current Summicron, but love the look of the older DR. I can't decide, so I'll just keep/shoot them both!!!

Most of us probably voted for whichever one we own!

I'll go for the collapsible because (a) it's the only one to work on an M and an LTM and (b) it has an old-world charm that the later ones don't. The collapsibility, incidentally, doesn't make it *that* much smaller; it's a lot bigger than a Summar of the same maximum aperture, and positively huge compared to an Elmar f/3.5.

I also like the muted contrast of the older Leitz lenses - they are pin-sharp (even that Summar) but you don't lose the shadow detail as easily.

owned the current and the DR summicron.

in retrospect, i like the current summicron the best. felt like i had more keepers

this could be unfair though because my DR summicron isnt in the best shape.
